Waterproofing a camera is not an easy thing to do so many, so called, underwater cameras aren?t really designed for that type of work

Now if you?re really serious about using an underwater digital camera to capture those wacky and funny moments underwater, I suggest that you buy a specialty camera.

You see, water pressure is the real problem for these cameras as well as water leaks Manufacturers have found it is easier just design a watertight case that goes around the digital camera instead. As a make-do, it woks quite well; converting an ordinary digital camera into an underwater camera.

Remember that as you farther down you go underwater, the more the light diffuses. direct result of diffusion; a problem that can be overcome by changing the white balance settings. Also, pictures taken underwater will come up larger than pictures taken on land with the same zoom effect. It is a good idea to make sure that the camera won?t leak whilst you are diving so just hold it under the water for a few seconds to be on the safe side. Small silica gel packs can be useful if they can fit in the case without causing an obstruction.

If you have a chance you should try and fit additional lenses if at all possible to your underwater digital camera to increase the type of images you can take. The likes of macro lenses will allow to take close up pictures for example.

Also, remember to always wash of salt when you?ve used it under salt water because if the salts are not washed off, in time they will crystallize; and cause leaks in your camera case. It is not uncommon to experience the odd grain of sand getting into the case which will cause problems later on so rinse the case with a flow of clean water.

It is usually the better digital camera manufacturers that will manufacture the more specialized products like Nikon, Canon and Sony
